We were faced with water damage to our dining room floor, and the remediation company referred by our insurance agent insisted that our older grade of flooring was no longer available, so they could not repair only the damaged section. They proposed instead to rip out the entire remaining dining/living room floor (connected) and to replace it with new pre finished boards. Not only would the color match with stairs and other nearby floors be off, but the disruption would also have been considerable–moving furniture out of the house, not to mention the destruction of perfectly good flooring. When I began researching the product to be used, I found the reviews were horrible–warping, irregular sizes, flaking finish. Fortunately I found Mike Garito at Alpine Flooring through a referral on a neighborhood website, and will be eternally grateful for that. He quickly assured us that, yes, our older boards were still available and he could replace simply the damaged section. He proposed dividing the dining/living room floor with header boards in the doorway to create a threshold and define the work area, then sand and refinish the dining room to match. His solution was simple and elegant, and the results were stunning. The project was completed neatly and efficiently in two days, at a very reasonable cost. I also appreciated the company’s concern for the environment and their evident integrity. I highly recommend Alpine Flooring to anyone needing flooring work.
